About this Event
Join glass artist Irene Vangsness of Midsummer Glassworks (@midsummerglassworks) to learn the basics of fused glass art and create a beautiful suncatcher. If you've been interested in fused glass but intimidated by the techniques involved, let Irene introduce you to this stunning craft.
In this workshop, students will learn:
- How to handle glass safely
- Glass cutting techniques
- Project planning, layout, and construction
- The various forms of glass, color/opacity/frits
- Principals of glass fusing, time/temperature/what happens in the kiln/what is COE (coefficient of expansion).
All tools and materials will be provided. Irene will fire the suncatchers in her studio kiln, and. completed projects will be available for pickup 2 to 3 days later at Locally Crafted or Locally Crafted Workshop.
Irene is a glass artist with 15 years of experience. She exhibits and sells in local art fairs, and sells her pieces in four handcraft shops. See her work on Instagram at @midsummerglassworks.
Crafters as young as 14 are welcome to attend, but any participant under 18 but must be accompanied by an adult. ALL participants must purchase a ticket.
