Funk and Soul Club comes to Guildford on Friday 5th July for a Summer knees up at The Holroyd. Featuring one of the hottest new outfits if 2024: Golden Gate is a new disco and house project from Leeds, UK who released ‘Enter The Golden Gate’ EP on London’s Disco Express this year. United by a love for their favourite LP, Masters at Work’s classic Nuyorican Soul project, DJ/producer Tee Cooper and songwriter/vocalist Harper Lake wanted to make music that sounded like classic house and disco, played live but produced for the club.
Dj Emma: Emma is a regular on the club circuits in London, Bristol and Manchester and has played at some incredible venues such as 93 Feet East, Brixton Jamm, Hootenanny, Sushi Samba & POW Brixton in London and Lakota, Motion and The Thekla in Bristol. A particular highlight for Emma at the end of 2023 was DJ’ing at Le Sacre in Paris with Young Pulse and The Funk French League. When Emma is not busy DJ’ing in the evenings, you will find her teaching DJ’ing and music production in schools and working on her own productions in the studio. Her debut track ‘High On Music’ was released on DJ Spen’s label Quantize in 2021. Her unreleased tracks & edits that you can find on her Bandcamp page have been supported by many radio shows and DJ’s across the UK and beyond including Balami, Voices radio, 1BTN, Worldwide FM and had regular and consistent support from Craig Charles on his Funk and Soul Show on BBC6 Music.
Emma has a passion for radio and has two monthly shows on Brighton based station 1BTN and Brixton Radio. She is also a freelance podcast/radio producer and has recently been producing the BBC Radio 1 Residency show working on a range of shows from Shy One’s and Joseph Capriati’s last year to Natasha Digg’s and DJ Tennis’ shows this year.
She has done not one but 2 ‘Trunk of Funk’ mixes for Craig Charles BBC6 Saturday night show and is looking forward to her EP being released in 2024 on F*CLR that will feature an original track and a remix from North Street West.
