We are delighted to host British-Korean-Japanese filmmaker and forager, Emily Smith, (www.instagram.com/down2forage) for an evening exploring the fungi and wild food of Japan. Emily will share her first-hand experience of Japan’s rich wild food culture, including how she taught herself to forage, plus tips on how to reconnect with nature no matter where you are and how to incorporate wild food into your diet. She will also delve into Japan’s foraging culture and how appreciating nature can inspire a slower, more mindful approach to life.
Emily will also be serving tasters of her foraged Japan-inspired snacks!
About Emily
Earlier this year, London Fungus Network met Emily at her new home in the rural mountains of Higashiyoshino, Nara, shortly after she made the move from South London. Together, we explored the unique and beautiful landscape, searching for wild plants and fungi. Emily is renovating an old house with her partner and working with the local government to revitalise the community, using her passion for nature to build connections. She continues to create wild food recipes, whilst working on a longer-form documentary. Emily also founded the Higashiyoshino Mushroom Society.
