About this Event
Let's Build Something Beautiful for Our Community
Please join the board of the Southeastern Buddhist Retreat Center (SEBRC) for an evening of inspiration and collaboration at the United Church of Gainesville. We're excited to gather with our community to discuss creating a residential retreat center to serve our local community and the world beyond.
Our nonprofit's vision is two-fold:
- To create a place of genuine refuge and support for those seeking healing, well-being, and personal retreat.
- To provide a center of teaching and learning for persons and groups wishing to restore balance on the planet, within ourselves, and in our communities.
Anchored in and guided by Buddhist principles such as compassion, interdependence, kindness, and self-inquiry, the retreat center will be a community-centered space that welcomes all, providing an environment to foster more sane, mindful approaches to living.
We're excited to have Lama Karma Drudul from Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery in Woodstock, New York, as our keynote speaker. (You can learn a little bit about Lama Karma here and here.) He's an engaging speaker, teacher, and author, and we're delighted he'll be joining us!
We'll provide a delicious vegetarian dinner buffet and have wonderful items for the silent auction. This dinner is a chance for founders, supporters, and dreamers to begin making this vision a reality. Let's share ideas, enjoy good food, and work towards building a peaceful haven for all.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to be a part of something special!
