Join us for a semi formal fundraising event at the Sandman Signature Hotel dedicated to supporting individuals on the Autism Spectrum. This special evening will bring together community members to raise awareness and funds for Autism BC. Enjoy an evening out filled with inspiring speakers, engaging activities, a live jazz band, a wonderful dinner, a silent auction, a wine pull and so so much more. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased with cash at RBC Sahali Branch & RBC Main Branch in Kamloops, BC.Hosting this event is 16 year old grade 11 student Andrea Huxley.
Andrea is currently in the School District 73 Health and Science Academy pilot program. This program was open for students to apply to be accepted who are in grade 11 and 12 and are aspiring a career in the medical profession. With a desire to obtain her doctorate is psychiatry, Andrea is proud to be one of the 26 students selected for this unique cohort who are exclusively learning about deeper aspects directly related to the medical field and gaining valuable experiences in a variety of volunteer environments across the city of Kamloops including Royal Inland Hospital, Ponderosa Lodge, and Overlander Residential Care facility.
Worth 50% of her grade, Andrea is putting on this event as her Capstone project to demonstrate her knowledge and a soft spot for ASD. 3 years ago, Andrea's younger sister was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 10 and she's seen first hand the silent and not so silent struggles individual's and families go through before, during and after the diagnosis. While supporting a cause near and dear to her heart, Andrea's hoping to create a memorable experience with a fun night that serves as an educational and supporting role in our amazing community of Kamloops with all funds raised going directly to Autism BC.
