About this Event
Join Future Economy Scotland (FES) for a timely event, ‘Funding Scotland’s Future: Tax Reform For A Just Transition’. Sponsored by Sarah Boyack MSP, this event will bring together experts and MSPs to examine how Scotland can maximise its fiscal powers in the next Parliament. Informed by FES’s latest research, this event will explore questions such as:
- What are the key pressures on Scotland’s stretched public finances?
- How can Scotland make best use of its devolved tax powers to raise revenue and support a just transition?
- How can we ensure that moving to net zero actively reduces poverty and inequality, rather than exacerbating them?
The speakers will include:
- Roz Foyer, General Secretary of the STUC
- David Phillips, Associate Director at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS)
- David Hilferty, Director of Impact at Citizens Advice Scotland,
- Laurie Macfarlane, Co-Director at Future Economy Scotland
The event will take place in Committee Room 3 (The Fleming Room) at the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 5th March from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Please note that passing through security can take time, so we recommend arriving for 5pm for a 5.30pm start. For more information on accessibility, visit the Scottish Parliament’s website.
