In this presentation, Sarah will discuss the key tenets of building a team and culture from employee #1 including culture design, talent mapping, as well as recruitment and interview tips. She will also explore options for bringing in the right talent that will touch on full-time/part-time/consultants, advisory boards, and equity vs. cash compensation.

Sarah is a former founder of a hyper-growth startup (exit 2012) that grew to eight figures in annual revenue in five years. A former head of business development and strategy at a venture-backed startup, she raised $90M in venture funding for the company, now valued at over $500 million. Sarah loves working with underestimated (meaning under-represented: female, BIPOC, LGBTQ, non-Ivy, non-college grad, over 45, etc.) founders from ideation through Series C.

Sarah is a high-performance coach to ambitious entrepreneurs and executives in venture-backed companies. She coaches senior leaders/founders/founding teams of venture-backed technology companies across industries. Sarah’s experience includes 350+ hours of 1:1 coaching across 100+ companies. Her coaching clients are referred by top investment funds including General Catalyst, Sequoia, Khosla, M13 as well as startup accelerators including YC, Techstars, Alchemist, Fractal, etc.

Sarah roots for underdog, mission-driven founders and badass entrepreneurial leaders who want to make the world better for generations to come. If you have rescued a dog, she may work with you for free.
