I Nasjonalmuseets samling finner du blant annet de første offentlig eide verkene av Edvard Munch. De 57 maleriene regnes som svært viktige i museets samlinger og flere av de ikoniske verkene vises samlet i et eget Munch-rom.
Munchs bilder inspirerer besøkende og forskere over hele verden og byr på en rekke utfordringer for Nasjonalmuseets konservatorer. Mange av maleriene fikk alvorlige belastninger under andre verdenskrig. Enkelte malerier har blitt utsatt for tyveri og hærverk.
Seniorkonservator/PhD Thierry Ford vil i dette foredraget guide deg gjennom det turbulente livet til Nasjonalmuseets Munch-bilder.

Are the paintings we see as Edvard Munch originally envisioned them? How were the paintings treated during the artist's lifetime?
In the National Museum's collection you will find, among other things, the first works by Edvard Munch acquired by a public institution.
The 57 paintings are considered highly important works in the museum's collections, and several of the iconic works are displayed together in a dedicated Munch room.
Munch's paintings inspire visitors and researchers worldwide and pose a number of challenges for the National Museum's conservators. Many of the paintings suffered serious strains during World War II. Some paintings have been subjected to theft and vandalism.
In this lecture, Senior Conservator Thierry Ford PhD will guide you through the turbulent life of the National Museum's Munch paintings.
The lecture will be held in English, but you can ask questions in Norwegian towards the end of the event.
