Rosalie James is an independent musical artist from Falmouth, Cornwall. She has performed and recorded locally and nationally (Gordon's Alive, All The Fires, Exelby) and as a solo artist.
After 10 years as a Social Worker in Social Care and Forensic Mental Health, Rosalie was diagnosed as autistic in 2023. This led her to reassess her path in life and she took the difficult decision to leave her job and finally pursue her career as a musician.
The result is the debut album Full of Chemicals, which will be released on 28/06/2024. Recorded and produced between Cornwall and Los Angeles, Rosalie worked with producer Daniel Knowles (Sharon Van Etten, Cigarettes After Sex) and other talented musicians (Lukas Frank of Storefront Church, Jorge Balbi, Garret Lang, Jason Abraham Roberts, Steve Jackson, Paul Haywood, Kath Buckler and John Greene) to create something she is proud, and a little terrified, to share.
Influences include Fleetwood Mac, boygenius, Radiohead, REM, blur, Cocteau Twins, Elliott Smith, The National, Crowded House and Adrienne Lenker.
Through timeless storytelling, a chaotic stage presence and vocals reminiscent of Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks, Rosalie tackles themes of domestic abuse, addiction, depression and fighting your way to authenticity in a deeply imperfect world. And love. Mostly love.
Rosalie will be performing all 10 songs from her album, accompanied by her newly formed band of brothers (Murray Gould, Kevin Jeffries, Steve Jackson and Zander Grinfeld) and a couple of guest appearances. Expect light snacks, hollow laughter and tears of joy. There will also be the opportunity to purchase merchandise (Full of Chemicals CD, t-shirts, badges and stickers) and chemical-themed cocktails.
