BLM's E-bike stipulations for our permit are:
2. The Permittee shall be aware that Class I, Class II and Class III e-bike riding is prohibited on the Fort Ord National Monument on all roads and trails (see rule number 10 here in the BLM’s approved Supplementary Rule of 2019. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2019/07/10/2019-14717/notice-of-final-supplementary-rules-for-fort-ord-national-monument-california). Currently, the BLM is not enforcing the restriction on the operation of Class I and Class II e-bikes while it evaluates the impacts that these motorized devices cause to the trails and other visitors for the non-motorized setting of the Monument. The BLM may begin enforcing that restriction during the permit term and would notify the Permittee in advance should the action change the permit terms regarding Class I e-bike use.
3. Class I e-bikes may be used by event personnel serving in an administrative capacity such as medical, communications, and/or safety sweeps.
4. MORCA may allow non-event personnel to use e-bikes during the night tours should those riders have been provided authorization from the BLM to ride on non-motorized trails and roads with an e-bike due to a disability or other physical ailment. Those riders can request the waiver by contacting the BLM at [email protected] or call (831) 582-2212.
