Yoga High proudly presents Koko and Kirtan, a collaboration between the cultures of Samoa and India at Yoga High Caroline Springs on July 21.The day precedes the full moon and will commence with the Koko gathering, led by Fipe Preuss.
Fipe will provide insight into the long history of the Koko bean in Samoa, its origins and significance to its people as well as her personal experience as a community leader and as owner of Living Koko, a company that uses indigenously grown Samoan Koko to make delicious chocolates, teas, facial and body scrubs as well as Koko based drinks.
You will have the unique opportunity to be enlightened about the rich history of Samoa and participate in the “Koko fono” gathering, wherein you will relax with a hot brew of Koko, settle your busy mind and connect with others.
Linking these two practices together will be a breathwork and meditation session hosted by Yoga High Co-founder Anne Marie. She will make use of accessible techniques that will leave you feeling grounded, balanced, but more-so the subtle influence of the breath over mind and body thus opening us to the innate energies of our beings.
The latter part of this powerful event will be led by Mitu Babbar, Yoga High student and Kirtan practitioner.
Mitu brings us the beauty of Kirtan, an Indian tradition of music, chanting and movement to release the heart chakra ( Anahata) and enjoy the simple joy of creating music within a group. She will also expound on her personal experience, growing up with Kirtan as well as the long historical importance of Kirtan in Indian culture.
Be prepared to let your heart soar and your energies liberated in this ecstatic, grounding practice. This is guaranteed to release you from inhibitions and give voice to and release of your spirit.
