We are really pleased to announce that we have found a great venue and so can now run our full day workshop + evening freestyle, this will be our first all-day workshop in the Leicester / Derby / Nottingham area - Strap yourselves in for a full day of workshop sessions and social dancing. We believe that a dancer’s tool-kit does not need to be filled with a vast array of complex moves which need to be committed to memory. We prefer to use techniques where the focus is not on moves, but is on smooth connected movement, accentuated by invitation and response, as this allows for a more relaxed dance style that can be creatively adapted to the music.
The themes of this workshop are connection and movement, specifically focused on enabling smoother dancing that is particularly suitable for the types of music that are common in the chill-out second-rooms, that are often found at freestyles and weekenders.
The workshop consists of 3 sessions, and doors will be open from 11:00 with the sessions running from 11.15-17.15 including plenty of time for breaks and guided practice.
There is also an evening freestyle from 19:30-23:30 which can be included with the workshop ticket at a discount price.

Connection, musicality and creativity are vital ingredients to partner dancing, and through our various classes and workshops Ellie and I strive to enable dancers to develop their skills in each of these areas, and to grow as competent, confident dancers.
We have intentionally structured the sessions to avoid content-overload and to allow us to tailor the technical details as required depending on each dancer’s abilities. We achieve this through teaching the core elements of each session to everyone, and then during the practice sessions we give additional detail and optional enhancements that are more challenging to those dancers who request it, while others can choose to just focus on practicing the core techniques they have learned.
During the workshop we will be providing lunch to keep your energy levels up, and of course a selection of hot drinks and biscuits which will be available during the breaks.
