About this Event

Come join Rose Whitehouse from Red Earth Ferments at her production kitchen at Shillingford Organics for an all-day ‘Introduction to Fermentation’ class.

In this class we will cover several techniques of lacto-fermentation, resulting in you taking home a range of ferments that will enable you to carry on making a variety of ferments at home. For beginners, you will receive a broad introduction to various techniques. For those that are more experienced, this is a chance to ask lots of questions and develop your skills further.

We will learn to make a seasonal Sauerkraut and kimchi, as well as make a wild-fermented soda and a fermented pickle. We will also go on a short farm-tour to gain a deeper understanding of seasonal, local food and harvest some of the vegetables to use in our ferments.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided as well as all equipment, recipes and on-going support after the class.

You will take home with you a jar of kimchi, sauerkraut, wild soda and fermented pickle. You will also take home a starter culture to make more soda at home.

One discounted ticket is available for someone on a low income in return for their help setting up and cleaning down at the end of the event. Please contact me directly for more information about this: [email protected]
