FUJI-YUKI One ButohNew Zealand 2025
Japanese vocalist Fuji Yuki will visit Aotearoa for the first time this April and invites you to share her movement and vocal practice in an evening performance at Vogelmorn Hall.
Fuji-Yuki's 'One Butoh' is a cultural exchange between Aotearoa and Japan, with the intention of creating new artistic possibilities through the collaborative performance of Pōneke based dancers and performing artists.
Come and join Yuki on 13th April at Common Ground for a collaborative live performance of voice and dance, featuring dancers Aylin Atalay, and Anna Hosking.
Fuji-Yuki uses her voice like an instrument. With special vocal techniques, glossolalia and electronic pedals, she creates a wide variety of sounds. Inspired by the spirits of Buddhism and Shintoism, she creatively transforms her vocals into ambient soundscapes or prayers.
The afternoon will open featuring a special collaborative performance between Japanese artist Wamei, and Wairarapa experimental sound artist Antony Milton.
