About this Event
Welcome to the FSHD North East & Cumbria Engagement Day!
This event is a unique opportunity for individuals living with Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD), along with their families and caregivers, to come together in person. Designed for the FSHD community in the Northeast and Cumbria, the day offers a supportive environment for meaningful discussions, sharing personal experiences, and expanding knowledge about FSHD.
Attendees will gain insights into the latest clinical and research initiatives led by the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre (JWMDRC). The event will feature expert presentations and discussions, offering updates on research advancements, clinical care, and emerging therapies in the FSHD field.
Beyond the informative sessions, this event fosters a sense of community, allowing participants to connect with others who share similar experiences and challenges.
As we continue to enhance our understanding of how FSHD affects individuals, you’ll also have the chance to learn more about our current research and future plans. A key focus for us is developing new approaches to monitor how the disease progresses over time. To support this, we invite you to participate in novel functional assessments available throughout the day. If you are interested, simply indicate this when placing your order, and we will provide you with detailed information on what’s involved. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions before deciding whether to take part.
Be part of a day dedicated to learning, connection, and collaboration as we unite to advance the understanding and support of the FSHD community. Arrival and registration will begin at 9:30 AM, with the program kicking off promptly at 10:00 AM.
