Hello FSCC Folks,
Our FSCC monthly gathering will be on Saturday, July 6, at our regular location, the Blue Grass Stockyards Regional Marketplace located at 4561 Iron Works Pike, Lexington, KY 40511. We will meet at the regular time of 9-11am. As usual, thanks to our sponsors there will be no fee for attending. Note this is an outdoor event rain or sunshine. And remember out of respect for our sponsors and the other attendees, we do not need speed shots or donuts on the asphalt.
As usual our sponsors are providing the first 50 cups of coffee and donuts free at our gathering hall inside the Marketplace. Thank you to our sponsors: Blue Grass Stockyards/Marketplace, Wildcat Van Lines, and Crittenden Rawlings Clothing. Hosted by Cadre Prime LLC.
June 1 was a great day for a car gathering. With almost 300 cars and trucks of all types it was major eye candy and a great gathering for local gearheads! Attendees included folks from most of the local car clubs so there was lots of events sharing and networking between clubs. While there were way too many super neat vehicles there to photo you can get a glimpse of several more by checking out the FSCC album of the event at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1838162583522521&type=3.
Note that the monthly FSCC gatherings have been called “events for only for very expensive cars”. I believe if you view the attendee photos you can see FSCC caters to all types of vehicles and in all kinds of condition! It is not even necessary to own a car to attend the gathering and enjoy the “eye candy”. The June event had vehicle presentations ranging from Aston Martin to Pick Up trucks. With over 20 vehicles attending, Porsche had the largest group. The Corvette Club had an impressive variety of models attending also.
The monthly FSCC gatherings provide a great place to share information about specific events in upcoming months. There was a representative from the Kentucky State Police who shared information about a charity car show which they held on June 29. Although it was too late to share their event on the monthly announcements, we were able to post the information on the FSCC facebook page. If you have a car event you would like to promote, let me know and I will try to include it in our monthly announcements.

So what happened in June?
This year’s Maserati Mingle was held on Friday evening June 21 at Summit at Fritz Farm. It was HOT! Fortunately, despite the 90+ temperatures there was a cloud cover and slight breeze. Despite the temperatures, we had a very good turnout of folks who wanted to view the 63 cars located on Marion Street. The cars were presented in six class groupings of American Classics/Muscle (14), Corvette (7), Exotic (13), Maserati (9), Porsche (10), and other Sports Cars (10). There were some really nice car groupings within the classes. Porsche folks had three really nice 356’s. There was also a pairing of a GT2RS and a GT3. Another nice visual complement was a beautiful 912 Targa. Folks always smile at seeing a 914. In addition to these and several other great Porsches, there was one car grouping that got lots of attention. It was a 1952 Allard J2X grouped with three notable Cobras. Most spectators did not realize that the Allard car was the inspiration Carroll Shelby used in designing the Ford Cobra. A rarity also was the 1972 TVR Vixen. Another sporty eye catcher was the1963 Morgan plus 4. The showing of Aston Martin, Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren was spectacular. These and other rarely seen cars were a treat for spectators at this annual event. You can view these and others on the FSCC drive at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ztqrzZpASVWK0k_H2rpa-FoSVFFUbvFn.
The Mingle is an annual promotional event for the Keeneland Concours and sponsored by Maserati of Cincinnati. Proceeds from this and all Keeneland Concours events benefit the UK Healthcare Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
How about July?
1) In addition to our July 6 FSCC event there will also be “Cruisin’ for a Cause”. This event venue will be at the Valvoline World Headquarters from 11am – 3pm. This is a family friendly charity event with $20 vehicle registration (including admission) or $10 general admission. Proceeds go to Lexington Habitat for Humanity. The event is hosted by MiddleGround Capital. For more information, email at [email protected].
2) Also, the 21st annual Keeneland Concours d’Elegance will be held on Saturday, July 20 at the Keeneland Race Track. This year’s feature marque is Mercedes. In addition, classes have been added to include “Leadsled” and “Trail Blazers”. The Car Club Paddock area is unique in that we can park up front and close to the judged cars while casually relaxing among fellow car enthusiasts! And don’t forget the annual Paddock Challenge. Since 2005 the Trophy has been awarded 18 times. The Porsche Club has won the award 13 times. The Sterling British Club beat Porsche in both 2022 and 2023. They are determined to make 2024 a Threepeat! The PCA Bluegrass Region is determined to not let that happen. Recall that the entire concours event (including the Challenge) is devoted to charity with all proceeds going to their sole beneficiary, the Kentucky Children’s Hospital. You can find out event specifics at https://keenelandconcours.com/.
Our next 2 FSCC events will be on Saturdays, August 3 and September 7 at our regular location the Bluegrass Blue Grass Stockyards Regional Marketplace.
Come on out and play in the 'Yard!
