Skill Level: Intermediate – prior experience with dremel tools and gourd staining recommended but not required
In this class, students will be build on their gourding skills by creating small pots and assorted objet d’art. To create your unique piece we will focus on the elements of design and color. After selecting your gourds, you will learn proper cleaning, sanding and leveling techniques to prepare your canvas. Carving with dremel-like tools will be used to carve the surface. Intuition goes al long with with this project. There will be enough time to create 1-3 small pots or other objet d’art for display. You will be provided with a wide pallet of colors to apply to your work. Your final step will be adding the “frosting” to your piece of art. Previous attendance in gourd workshops is preferable, but not required.
