AN ODE TO MAN’S BEST FRIEND IN RON ELISHA’S LATEST PLAY FOR VICTORIAN SENIOR’S WEEK
John’s daughter gifts him a puppy the only problem is - he doesn’t like dogs…
Award-winning Australian playwright Ron Elisha is back with another thought-provoking and heartfelt play that explores the highs and lows of human relationships and the turbulent journey of life with his latest work Everyman & His Dog showing at The Explosives Factory from 5 - 8 October as part of the 2022 Victorian Seniors Festival and Melbourne Fringe Festival season.
Directed by Denny Lawrence (Bodyline MDA A Country Practice) and starring Dennis Coard (Five Bedrooms Rosehaven Utopia) this insightful and sincere piece is a gentle meditation on love and loss as the main character - John Everyman a retired GP who likes to live an ordered life - shares the story of how an unwanted gift from his daughter turned his life upside down.
Inspired by the popular expression (which means ‘a lot of people’ or ‘everyone’) and loosely based on Elisha’s own encounters with a variety of canine companions Everyman & His Dog explores what happens when you’re suddenly pulled out of your comfort zone and forced to confront your greatest fears.
Delivered as a compelling and vulnerable monologue this 60-minute play will take you on a profound and tender journey through the heart and leave you reflecting on what it means to love and be human.
