In this informative and thought-provoking talk, James will help you to explore how an understanding of kink and fetish can be a wonderful gateway to understanding desire, normalise the breadth of human sexuality, and how they can function as symbolic blueprints for unmet needs, emotional wounds, or self-discovery.
Whether you are wondering how to bring this into your work with clients or simply intrigued and wanting to learn a little more about this subject, this promises to be a fascinating talk!
James is an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor who has been in private practice for ten years, working with individuals and couples. Before becoming a Counsellor James previously worked as a Youth Worker with disadvantaged young people, at Citizens Advice Bureau and gained a degree in Public and Social Policy.
A self confessed ‘Kinkster’ himself, James wrote a dissertation on kink/fetish for his undergraduate degree in 2019 and has worked in this area since, as a kink aware therapist.
James holds a BA (Hons) in Humanistic/Integrative Counselling, Advanced Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Diploma in Supervision and is an NCPS Accredited member
