Dr. Frederick Engram ‘05 will speak on his journey as a scholar and activist on Friday, Oct. 7 at noon in Grimes Lounge (Crisp Student Union). As an undergraduate student, Engram was a Criminology major. He believes in giving back to the community that poured so much into him and is partially responsible for who he is today. A fireside chat will follow the keynote address and will feature Engram in conversation with Justin Nixon, a sophomore Political Science student and campus leader. These two proud Smithites will engage in a critical conversation about the state of student activism at HBCUs. A reception will follow. This event is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and organized by Dr. Terza Lima-Neves in the Department of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Students.
