A presentation to the Greater Utica Mycological Society. This meeting is open to the public and will take place at 7:00 pm in Willard Conference Room, on the second floor of DePerno Hall, at Utica University.James Knippen, a certified mushroom forager and English professor at Utica University, will discuss methods for turning wild and cultivated mushrooms into beefy burgers, fried chicken, crispy bacon, and other vegetarian-friendly options. Going beyond the king trumpet scallop and lion's mane crab cake, James will also reveal which mushrooms can be turned into soft chicharron, hibachi shrimp, filet mignon, and swordfish, among other staples.
The meeting will begin with a brief club business meeting and mushroom identification session. Bringing in mushrooms for ID is encouraged!
