In the program “From Salon to Cabaret” we will present some highlights and hidden treasures from these two theatrical music genres in an atmospheric way.
First of all, songs and piano music that originated in and around the salon of the renowned singer Pauline Viardot, who was a very influential figure in the art scene of 19th century Paris and far beyond. Among her close friends were the writer George Sand and the composers Berlioz, Rossini, Clara Schumann and Chopin. The year 2021 is the two hundredth year of birth of Pauline Viardot.
Then it is the turn of literary cabaret songs by Arnold Schönberg and Kurt Weill. Various forms of humor and social reflections from the place and time of creation predominate here.
The concert is supported by Fonds Podiumkunsten.
