Music of the Unsung America, a new concert and conversation series featuring Black artists of history and today that explores the deep roots and extraordinary range of music created and performed by Black musicians, reveals a beautiful truth about our history. “Music of The Unsung America: From Renaissance to Resistance--a Juneteenth concert" will occur at the Historic Hampton House on Friday, June 18th at 7:00 pm.
The program features the music of Duke Ellington and music from South Florida composer and trumpet player, Dwight Banks. This concert is a curated visual digital narrative that takes the viewer on a musical journey through the sophistication, pride, resilience, pain, joy, and beauty of the African-American identity post-emancipation in America.
