Topic: From Nerve Synapses to Syringes: ADHD and Vaccines Without the Myths-The current facts you need to know for your community”

Approved for 3 general education credit hours (in-person) for social workers


OBJECTIVES:

  1. Describe the core features of ADHD across the lifespan, including how symptoms may present differently in children, adolescents, and adults, and how these presentations affect social, academic, and occupational functioning.
  2. Differentiate evidence-based understanding of ADHD and vaccine safety from common myths and misinformation, particularly those encountered in clinical, school, and community settings.
  3. Explain the role of vaccines in public health and individual protection using clear, non-technical language appropriate for counseling clients and families with varying levels of health literacy.
  4. Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive communication strategies when discussing ADHD diagnoses or vaccine hesitancy with clients, caregivers, or multidisciplinary teams.
  5. Identify the unique role of the therapists and social workers within interprofessional care, including advocacy, psychoeducation, care coordination, and ethical boundaries when addressing ADHD treatment plans or vaccine-related concerns
