So, you want to write a memoir? Join us for a conversation between author Herb Keyser and Bookstore1Sarasota's very own Georgia Court as they discuss the process of self-publishing a memoir from A-Z.
About the program:
Looking for information and practical advice as you begin writing a long-form memoir? Come draw on the resources and expertise of Herb Keyser and Georgia Court. These two will discuss everything from the motivations behind memoirs to what's included vs. left behind, as well as how to navigate copy editing, cover design, and publishing services. Questions are welcome!
Herb Keyser is a 91-year-old retired obstetrician who has written books for the past 40 years. Of his seven published books, the most recent (2023) was a memoir titled Finding Barbara. He is currently working on two more books.
Georgia Court has mostly enjoyed a career in words, although she took a detour into high-tech, working a few years as an IBM systems engineer. After earning her master's in journalism, she was marketing director for a PBS station then ran her own PR-events company, wrote a book about event planning, published a healthcare newspaper, wrote a regular column for one of Cincinnati's daily newspapers, and taught at the University of Cincinnati. Her latest work adventure: owning Bookstore1Sarasota, which she opened in March 2011.
