About this Event

MEETING POINT - ANGEL UNDERGROUND STATION

About this event:

Pictures are everywhere. Today, we are surrounded and bombarded by pictures in any area of our personal and public lives. Often, despite our good intentions, we become passive users of photography, and sometimes images become noise and clutter in our daily practices, in a continuous crescendo of phone scrolling, loss of meaning and time-wasting, stress, anxiety and loss of wellbeing.

Can photography be used, instead, as a foundation for a more meaningful life and personal growth?

The workshop:

With the “From Lens to Self" Workshop, we hope to inspire as many citizens as possible to embrace their photographer spirit and to use pictures as an instrument to impact their community, their work and life, starting from personal exploration.

The 3 Hours workshop lays the foundations on practical observation of the environment with the camera (or mobile phone), personal reflection, conversations, and playful activities to experience how photography can be a powerful tool to bring new perspectives for personal development, problem-solving, planning and action.

In this Face to Face Event, we will have an opportunity to:

  • Walk around the urban and natural environment and learn practices and techniques that can help to connect differently to the environment;
  • Practice photography differently, focusing our attention on the meaning of making a picture;
  • Receive stimulus for personal reflections and have a journey through our goals and present lives;
  • Listen and empathise to/with other participants’ stories, goals and dreams to encourage and inspire;
  • Work on being present, improve visual thinking and observation skills;
  • Use photography and storytelling to shift our self-limiting beliefs and act to build your leadership;
  • Use Photography to build metaphors, and open up with old and new understandings, ideas and perspectives;
  • Playfully work with Coaching, Innovation, Facilitation, Anthropology and Creative frameworks & techniques;
  • Meet other inspiring human beings, and experience deep interaction and profound reflections together.

This course is for:

  • Anyone interested in developing their creativity with photography, regardless of their camera or experience level;
  • Anyone looking to experiment or improve storytelling through photography;
  • Anyone with a personal goal they want to achieve or a personal challenge they want to solve;
  • Anyone intrigued by the idea of using photography for self-expression, communication, and structure thinking to support and record change and impact;
  • Anyone curious about Art based coaching practices, creative problem-solving and innovation activities;
  • Anyone willing to improve one or more aspects of their well-being or want to boost their confidence or invest in personal development;
  • Anyone experiencing a significant change in your life, or you are in a moment of inner chaos and want support in finding some purpose and direction;
  • You value time outside and like supporting others.

What the workshop is Not:

  • A photography competition, we are not here to judge;
  • A therapy session/workshop;
  • A passive personal development lesson.

What You Need for the workshop:

  • Your Digital Camera or Mobile. You don’t need to be a photographer, but you will take pictures and work with them. Bring a Power-bank if necessary;
  • To avoid risks connected to the high temperatures of late July, don’t forget a bottle of water, a Hat and Sun Screen Protection, and appropriate clothes and shoes (we are going to walk a lot). Prevention is Key;
  • Despite being an Outdoor Experience, we remember the importance of following national Covid-19 rules;
  • Further Communication will be sent via email to participants a few days before the event.
