About this Event

Join us for From Learning to Action: Displacement, Community, and Global Citizenship, an interactive International Development Week event inspired by experiences from the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) in Colombia with the YMCA of Greater Toronto.

This workshop draws on community-based work with children, youth, women, and families affected by displacement and migration, exploring how global realities intersect with local communities in Canada. Through storytelling, hands-on activities, and dialogue, participants will reflect on identity, belonging, and shared responsibility in an interconnected world.

Participants will:

  • Explore displacement and migration through lived experiences from Colombia
  • Reflect on identity, belonging, and stigma across borders
  • Learn how the Sustainable Development Goals connect to International Development Week
  • Consider practical ways to engage as global citizens locally and globally

The event concludes with a pop-up salsa lesson and networking, celebrating culture as a form of resilience and community connection.

Facilitator:

Christina Rajack, International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) Alum, YMCA of Greater Toronto, 2025 – 2026 Cohort
