Litquake is thrilled to be able to feature one of Ireland's major rising literary stars, Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi, in this event which emphasizes her recent anthology Writing Home: The New Irish Poets, a major new collection of writing from Ireland that acknowledges and celebrates the contribution of those whose roots lie outside of the country. This essential book features poets from places as diverse as India and Italy, Poland and Pakistan, Canada and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as the US, the UK and Ireland itself. Together they present an updated picture of a changing country while, at the same time, expanding the very definition of ”writing from Ireland.“ She will be in conversation with a fellow Dubliner, author and artist Emer Martin.

Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi is a poet, communications officer and content creator. She was born in Lagos, Nigeria and grew up in Dublin, Ireland. Her work has been published in various magazines both online and in print. She has performed in festivals, cultural events and workshops around Ireland, and most recently, she co-edited the anthology Writing Home: The New Irish Poets, a collection which featured poems from poets who have emigrated to Ireland.

Emer Martin is a Dubliner who has lived in Paris, London, the Middle East, and various parts of the U.S. Her first novel, Breakfast in Babylon, won Book of the Year 1996 at the prestigious Listowel Writers’ Week. More Bread Or I’ll Appear, her second novel, was published internationally in 1999. Her third novel, Baby Zero, was published in the U.K. and Ireland in 2007, and released in the U.S. in 2014. Her most recent novel is The Cruelty Men. She founded the publishing cooperative Rawmeash in 2014, and was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2000. She now lives between California and Co. Meath, Ireland.
