Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024

Time: 10am-5pm

Description: From Etch to Print and Adorn: Printmaking and Jewelry using the Etching Process. This one-day workshop will introduce you to electrolytic etching, a safer and acid-free etching process, simple printmaking techniques, and basic jewelry making. Students will learn how to build and etching setup and learn how to use the system in their studio. During the workshop we will etch a small plate and make several prints from it. Afterward, participants may choose to turn the etched piece into a pendant.

This workshop is ideal for both printmakers and jewelry artists interested in learning the electrolytic etching process.

Tuition: $95 + $15 materials fee

Materials: All materials will be provided but students are encouraged to bring a sketchbook and pencil/pen.

Location: Contemporary Craft (5645 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201)

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.

Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist

Jim Bové is an educator and artist living south of Pittsburgh. Jim was the technical editor for the Society of North American Goldsmiths. His artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally and was featured in the Royal Ueno Museum in Tokyo, Japan, as well as in Munich, Germany, New Taipei City, Taiwan, and at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale in South Korea. Jim teaches workshops throughout the United States and abroad.
