About this Event
Join Us for a lecture on Modern Periodontics:
This lecture will focus on how compromised teeth can be successfully treated, stabilized, and even regenerated using modern periodontal therapy. The session will guide hygienists through how periodontal disease affects the bone and soft tissues around teeth, and how contemporary regenerative techniques can rebuild lost support and extend the life of natural dentition.
The presentation will review non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapies, including deep cleaning, minimally invasive periodontal surgery, bone grafting, biologics, and soft-tissue management, all from a hygiene-centered perspective. Emphasis will be placed on understanding which teeth can realistically be saved, how regeneration works, and how hygienists play a critical role in monitoring healing and long-term success.
Attendees will learn how to recognize periodontal breakdown, interpret radiographs and clinical findings in regenerated sites, and understand how treatment decisions influence long-term tooth survival. The session will empower hygienists to better communicate with patients, reinforce home care, and support periodontal therapy outcomes in everyday clinical practice.
Core Topics Covered:
These are excellent to show on a website, Eventbrite, or handout:
• Why teeth are lost: bone loss, inflammation, and attachment breakdown
• What “periodontal regeneration” actually means
• Bone grafting around teeth: what materials are used and why
• The role of biologics and PRF in healing and regeneration
• When teeth can be saved vs when extraction is truly necessary
• What regenerated sites should look like during maintenance
• How hygienists influence the long-term survival of compromised teeth
Dinner will be served at 6 pm, and 2 CE credits will also be provided.
