About this Event
Mornington Singers and conductor Orla Flanagan, present their autumn concert From Death to Life, an uplifting musical exploration in awe of love, life, and the power in taking chances, at 6pm on Saturday 23rd November in the Newman University Church, St Stephen's Green.
With music spanning from the 12th century to present day, From Death to Life celebrates the highs and lows of the human experience. The programme includes Drei Lieder by Clara Schumann, From Death to Life by Barna Szabó, and settings of O Vis Aeternitatis by Rhona Clarke and Hildegard von Bingen.
At the heart of the concert is the stunning Requiem by Tomás Luis de Victoria and A Frost Sequence by Canadian composer, Stephanie Martin. A Frost Sequence beautifully sets to music three poems by acclaimed poet, Robert Frost. As the composer herself describes, the poems “reflect on the ephemeral nature of existence, the consequences of decision-making, and the tug of our dream world against the real world of responsibilities.”
