In Honor of African American History Month, Lincoln Branch looks back on a historic time and place in Detroit’s rich cultural heritage.About this Event
Journey back in time as our special guest, Patricia Millender shares her Family’s Legacy in word and via a handmade quilt she created.
The program is aptly titled, “From the Black Bottom to Elmwood Park,” just like the quilt.
An excellent storyteller, you will be amazed by the history she shares which includes
the first African American man in Detroit to have a building named after him: her father, Robert L. Millender Sr. (The Millender Center.)
Also, her sister a veteran Detroit Judge, Beatrice 'Pennie' Millender.
Patricia seems to enjoy sharing about her rich life.
“Richness, for her, is measured in education, art, and community.”
