In the classical era, composers such as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven wrote much of their keyboard music for the fortepiano, an instrument that sounds remarkably different from the modern piano. Nowadays this music is almost always performed on a modern piano, and it's a very rare treat to hear it performed on an actual fortepiano. As it so happens, one of the world's most prolific fortepianists originally hails from Aiken. Daniel Maltz now resides in Vienna, and we welcome him back home for this not-to-be missed performance of music by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven as it was originally intended to be heard. Join us!
