This September, in collaboration with some of Minneapolis’s most prominent artists, activists, and community support organizations, we present Frogleg Thursdays: #UNITY Edition. This series is about joy, love, and camaraderie with friends, family, and fellow humans. Just as importantly, this series is about sharing, lifting, giving, and advocating to and for people in need within our city. Each week, a portion of proceeds will go directly to local orgs such as Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence, TruArt Speaks, and The D.I.V.I.N.E. Institute. Major drives for food, clothing, and health items will also be held on-site for donation to local homeless camps, shelters, and pantries. Here’s an opportunity to do good, y’all. Let’s show everyone what Frogleg Family is all about. In September, we boogie for a purpose! #UNITY!

is an island breeze, a highway cruise with the windows down, a mountainside ramble, a New Orleans night out. Their music is steeped in sounds and lyricism of improvisational rock and roll, reggae, soul, carribean jazz, bluegrass, americana, and folk, among others - if it has to be contained to a category, World music suits it best. Chock-full of impressive songwriting ability and instrumental virtuosity, and with two released full-length studio albums, a live album and a third studio album in the chute, this 6-piece ensemble of artistry has nowhere to go but up.

Minneapolis native Omar Abdulkarim has been playing trumpet since he was 14 months old, learning from his father, Ahmed Abdulkarim.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in music performance from the renowned New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He has performed around the world with various groups at the Haitian Jazz Festival, Switzerland at Marian’s Jazz room, Also at the top clubs in New York including the Blue Note, Small, and Birdland. He has performed and worked with Roy Hargrove, Redman, Method Man, KRS-ONE, Talib Kweli, Lauren Hill, Nicholas Payton television studio orchestra, Jose James, and Valerie Ponomarev big band to name a few. He’s quintet held a year long residency performing at New York’s prestigious Standard Hotel playing 5 nights a week in the  Boom Boom Room. He has worked with the orchestra and jazz quartet on the largest cruise ship in the world “The Oasis of the Seas'' for over a year. Omar is currently living in Minneapolis where he is working on his debut album which will be released this year.

As our guest you will agree to the following assumption of risk and waiver of liability: “By purchasing a ticket, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk of being exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending events and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the event may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of ticket holders and others, including, but not limited to, employees, volunteers, and program participants and their families. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my guest(s) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my guest(s) may experience or incur in connection with my guest’s attendance at the event or participation in concert programming (“Claims”). I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the The Hook and Ladder Theater, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any event program.”

Please review each symptom listed below and answer “yes” or “no” if this is a symptom that you or your guest(s) are experiencing and cannot attribute to another health condition.
