David Froggatt (FROGGMAN) has been a performer/writer/producer for the past 30 years, working with most of Australia’s top performers. Songs he’s written have been recorded by Jimmy Barnes, Glenn Shorrock, Cold Chisel, Mark Callaghan, Little River Band, the Tin Lids and the 12th Man, amongst others. His name appears on about 3 million C.Ds worldwide and two of his songs “Christmas Day” by the Tin Lids and “Marvellous”, co-written by the 12th Man reached number one in the charts. His main claim to fame is as co- producer for all the 12th Man albums. He also supplied all the music for the albums, and all of them, eight in total, reached number one on the album charts.Making a late career move, FROGGMAN is now a solo performing artist who has released six self-produced albums and all songs are available on Spotify, Amazon music, iTunes etc under the moniker of “Froggman “.
FROGGMAN has reverted to his high school days and is back playing guitar and singing.
FROGGMAN spends several months each year in New York, plays the bars around town, and has been getting some airplay on college radio as well (FROGGMAN “Double Sunday”). The cover songs at these gigs pretty much all come from last century, and by doing a mix of covers and originals, 3 hour gigs are often par for the course. Not only are most of the cover songs well known, they’re also not heard being performed live too often because they’re not easy to play or sing.
Fortunately, FROGGMAN has the ability to play early finger-picken guitar like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. He also has a vocal range which enables him to cover such diverse artists as Roy Orbison, The Beatles, Nick Cave and Neil Young. Finally, he can also play Claptonesque lead guitar, and has done so on many occasions with Jimmy Barnes. All in all, a good foundation for a gig full of variety.
