About Becoming Benno
Australian Global Artistic Talent Visa recipient Ben Voss will premiere his solo show, Becoming Benno, at the Warehouse Theatre and Muree Smith Hall from March 5–22 as part of the 2025 Adelaide Fringe Festival. Directed by Michael Richard with best-selling playwright John van de Ruit (think Spud) as dramaturge. This heartfelt and irrepressible performance promises to captivate South Australian audiences, keeping them on the edge of their seats.
Ben, with his wife and kiddo waiting for him at arrivals at Adelaide Airport, faces uncertainty when detained by border control officials due to an issue with his Permanent Residency Visa. As he oscillates between confidence and panic, Ben delves into themes of identity, family, and belonging, with humor and heartfelt insight.
Becoming Benno is a show about keeping spirits up when moving Down Under.
