About this Event
The Social Supper Society Presents: Friendsgiving 2025 - A Celebration of Culture, Justice, and Reentry Citizens hosted at Savin Bar and Kitchen
116 Savin Hill Dorchester MA 02125.
The Social Supper Society is thrilled to host its second annual curated dinner, Friendsgiving, on November 10, 2025. This year, we continue the cherished tradition of celebrating African and Indigenous cultures with a five-course, family-style feastthat not only honors the rich heritage of these communities but also shines a light on the criminal injustices they have faced, both historically and in the present.
Building a Brighter Future for Reentry Citizens
Friendsgiving goes beyond recognizing past injustices—it is a step toward creating a better future for reentry citizens. We are incredibly proud to feature the work of Chef Chris and the work he does with the Reentry Programs, which provides formerly incarcerated adults with culinary skills and valuable opportunities to successfully reintegrate into society and the workforce. The majority of our event staff will be reentry citizens, working alongside Chef Chris in the kitchen, gaining hands-on experience in the culinary industry.
Our event also offers crucial support to challenged populations, including individuals who are experiencing homelessness, those with limited job skills, and people facing barriers to employment due to CORIs or educational limitations. Friendsgiving offers these individuals a chance to develop critical skills, build their confidence, and prepare for meaningful employment opportunities.
Join Us in Making an Impact
Last year, with the invaluable support of our community, we successfully hosted 70 participants at Friendsgiving. One of our reentry citizens has since gained full-time employment in the restaurant industry—a testament to the powerful impact of this event. This year, we are excited to build on the great results achieved last year and continue helping reentry citizens and others transition into fulfilling careers.
What’s Included: A five-course, family-style meal celebrating African and Indigenous cultures, prepared by reentry citizens and Chef Chris.
By joining us for Friendsgiving, you’ll not only enjoy a delicious meal but also contribute to a meaningful cause—helping reentry citizens and challenged populations find their path to a brighter future.
