The Friends of the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will hold their annual meeting on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Frost Kalnow Room.The meeting will feature a special program about the history of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics National Orphans Home, also called the Junior Home, and will tell stories about what it was like to live there. Healing Your Life One Leaf at a Time by local author Sara Shaw features the story of Carol Metcalf, whose mother was a “Home Kid,” meaning someone who grew up in The Junior Home. Sara and Carol will be leading the discussion. The program will be followed by the Friends’ business meeting. Current and old business will be discussed, Library Director Matthew Ross will give a state of the library, and the election of officers will take place. The program and meeting are open to the public. Refreshments will be provided and everyone in attendance will receive a special gift.
The Friends of the Library organization supports T-SPL with monies raised through the book sale and other fundraisers held throughout the year. Funds raised in the past have provided financial support for the children and young adults’ summer reading programs, special events for adults, and an annual holiday book drive for area youth.
