About this Event
The Corcoran Music Program's Fridays @ 5 is back in Phillips B120 with everything from Jazz to Chamber, Electronic to Spoken Word, building community and representing all that we learn together! It's fun, laidback, and popular with faculty, students, alumni, and anyone who drops in! All the cool kids will be there!
Check out what your peers are doing, join in, and try out what you are working on now: no pressure, just fun! Fridays @ 5 will continue for the rest of the semester, so please plan to attend and perform. Everyone is welcome!
Masks are required indoors at all GW-owned and -operated facilities.
MUSIC PROGRAM INFORMATION
Our students create music seven days a week both individually and through ensembles. They perform in venues on and off campus, in D.C. and beyond. Through our curriculum, which includes courses in performance, history, computer music, theory, and culture, students get to know each other and enjoy encouraging and productive relationships with faculty members. Our Bachelor of Arts in Music degree lays a strong foundation for students interested in music-related professions or in advanced music study in graduate school. Our majors and minors are encouraged to join ensembles to develop performance experience and expand their repertoire.
- Western Classical Chamber Ensembles
- Jazz and Popular Music Ensembles
- University Band
- University Orchestra
- University Singers
- Electronic and Computer Music Studio
Opportunities for Non-Majors: GW students with a background in music are welcome and encouraged to audition to participate in our ensembles. Membership in these ensembles is composed of the varied and talented GW community and is not limited to those registered as a music major or minor.
