About this Event

THE YEARLINGS
Two guitars, two voices.
Quiet, intimate, raw and powerful, producing a new strain of acoustic music,
distilling Americana through the filter of distinctly Australian life.
Working together as The Yearlings for over 20 years, the duo has achieved a
lot, including recently being awarded "ROOTS ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2023"; by
the Adelaide Blues & Roots Association, with their 2023 release “Luck”, mixed
by Chris Shaw in Austin TX (Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow) and produced by Lucie
Thorne, recorded at Mixmasters Studios in Adelaide by Mick Wordley.
They have recorded six studio albums to date and one live record.
Their album “Highway Dancing” was recorded in New York in 2008 and was
produced by the New York Guitar Festival Director David Spelman and included
artists such as Larry Campbell (Grammy Award winner and guitar player for the
likes of Bob Dylan and Levon Helm), and Ollabelle (New York City roots band).
The Yearlings have made numerous festival appearances at home and abroad,
including playing shows across Europe and the USA, performances at the New
York Guitar Festival, opening for the Punch Brothers at the Adelaide Guitar
Festival, the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and the famous Cohen Club in Verona,
Italy.
Reviewers have captured the essence of their music, describing it as "unhurried,
breathing, spacious and warm"(Marty Jones, Rhythms Magazine), "There is an
almost indescribable musical lexicon that surrounds a Yearlings' performance,
and it is one that can barely be described, it must be seen and heard for
oneself." (Faster Louder)

DANIEL GOSLING
Born in the heart of Santa Teresa, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Daniel Gosling was immersed in the magical realm of music from an early age. He grew up surrounded by the influential Clube da Esquina movement, Samba and Bossa Nova, thanks to his musical family.
Hailing from the culturally rich state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, Daniel recognized the fusion of European classical, African, and folklore music that defined the region.
He dedicated himself to studying Brazilian music at Bituca University under the guidance of Milton Nascimento, a symbol of their state and country's musical heritage. Now residing in Australia, he brings this precious cultural treasure with him. His goal is to enrich the vibrant music scene of South Australia through his original compositions and performances, bridging the two nations with his harmonious music.
