Back for the final leg of its ninth season, Friday Night Sound Waves: Backstage Pass brings a lineup of high-energy tribute concerts to Las Olas Oceanside Park.
Presented by the Fort Lauderdale Beach Business Improvement District, the free concert series takes place every Friday from Oct. 24 through Dec. 19, 2025, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., and features performances by nationally touring tribute bands celebrating some of the most iconic artists in music history.

Get ready to cruise through a soundscape of synths, hooks, and irresistible cool as Touch & Go revs up the Friday Night Sound Waves stage with a spot-on tribute to The Cars. This South Florida-based band doesn’t just cover the hits—they recreate the magic with precision, passion, and the unmistakable swagger of one of rock’s most iconic new wave groups.
At the wheel is frontman Gene Minix, whose uncanny portrayal of Ric Ocasek brings a perfect blend of detached charm and vocal edge. He’s backed by a powerhouse ensemble: guitarist Scott Winslow channeling Elliott Easton’s signature riffs, Chris Willis on keys re-creating the band’s iconic textures, and bassist Eric Hann—fresh from L.A.—bringing genre-honed finesse to every groove. Anchoring it all is Joe Schnessel on drums, delivering pulse-pounding rhythms with effortless style.
