The Bunker Performance Lounge & Cafe kicks off the Fall Songwriter Series with the first of three special nights featuring original music and storytelling from a talented lineup of Ontario songwriters.
Taking the stage for this opening round are:
🎶 The MacQueens – Kris and Liv MacQueen are a married contemporary folk duo from Kitchener-Waterloo. Their thoughtful, earnest songs have drawn comparisons to Bruce Cockburn and Leonard Cohen, while their vocal and stage chemistry has been likened to The Civil Wars. Their debut full-length album, You & Me & Everything (2019), was featured on CBC and over 45 campus and independent radio stations across North America, earning them recognition for their emotionally honest songwriting.
🎶 Jason Mercer – With his third solo single released in late 2023, London, Ontario’s Jason Mercer continues to make his mark on the country music scene. After 17 years in the industry and more than 250 performances a year across Canada and as far away as Australia, Mercer has carved out a path as a solo artist. Known for bridging genres as the former frontman of both rock band Metro4 and country group Them Dang Rattlers, his eclectic influences are still evident in his work today. Alongside his solo career, Mercer performs regularly at songwriter circles, showcases, and charity events, serves as an understudy in a world-touring Eagles tribute, and hosts live-streamed concerts from his studio.
🎶 Nico Valeriote – Based in Guelph, Nico is an indie-folk/rock singer-songwriter most known for his work with the band You Might Be Sleeping. Since forming the group with childhood friends at fifteen, Nico has honed his craft through songwriting, performance, and touring small clubs and venues across Ontario. Now stepping into his solo work, his stripped-back songs lean into vulnerability, exploring themes of addiction, growth, and loss.
Doors open at 6 PM. Music begins at 8 PM.
Come for a night of original songs, stories, and the chance to connect with the songwriters behind the music.
