The upcoming limited-engagement exhibit at the Hannibal Arts Council will feature the works of Craig Fleece of Dallas City, IL. The exhibit will be on display at the Hannibal Arts Council August 29 through September 12. friday night preview will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29. There will be an Artist Talk and “Countdown to Blacklight” at 7:30 p.m. You won't want to miss it!
The exhibition, titled "Vanscapes: 2nd Journey," invites viewers into an exploration of landscapes and travel narratives captured during Fleece's wanderings. The Hannibal Arts Council gallery will become a portal for shared adventure, providing a unique viewing experience for all who attend.
Finding inspiration in Southwestern landscapes with their rich reds, oranges, and earthy tones, Fleece's interpretation of these desert scenes takes on a distinctive psychedelic and dreamlike quality, infused with a consistent sense of whimsy and playfulness that defines his artistic voice.
Drawing deeply from his experiences in nature and outdoor adventures, Fleece translates the healing essence of wild places into vibrant interpretations on canvas. His creative journey begins in the landscape itself, where he captures the immediacy of each location through plein air oil painting and sketching.
The exhibit will run through September 12 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S Main St. and is sponsored by Commerce Bank with funding support from the Missouri Arts Council.
HAC gallery hours through September 12 are Noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays (during exhibits only).
