Friday Night Comedy! with Tommy Ryman @ Gambit Brewing in Lowertown St Paul

Don't miss national headliner (and Minnesota's very own) , who has headlined comedy clubs around the country, released four comedy albums, and was a semifinalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing (see video clip below).

We're also excited to be featuring hilarious comedy vet Wendy Berkowitz, who's performed in every comedy festival under the sun, including the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival and International Ladies Laugh Comedy Festival. Hosting the evening will be our in-house comedian/therapist Jesse The Shrink. Full bios for each of our comedians below!

ABOUT OUR COMEDIANS

Tommy Ryman, a semifinalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, is an acclaimed comedian. His oddly-adorable stand-up landed him No. 1 on iTunes comedy charts for his album Party Troll. Named Best of the Midwest at Gilda’s Laugh Fest, Tommy grew up in Minnesota jamming on clarinet for his new-age mom and kale-chip-making dad.

He performs at top clubs, colleges, and festivals across the nation including the Great American Comedy Festival. Tommy was invited to be on Nickelodeon’s NickMom Night Out and has a full comedy special on Dry Bar Comedy. He’s worked alongside Nick Swardson, Hannibal Buress, Maria Bamford and Louie Anderson but none wear a cardigan quite like Tommy. Featured on Paste Magazine and regularly heard on SirusXM and iheartradio, Tommy’s act can be described as absurdist and clever masked behind an endearing, innocent demeanor. A Last Comic Standing judge raved, “I have never seen anything like [Tommy] before in my whole life, [he is] one-of-a-kind, fantastic!”

Wendy Berkowitz

Wendy started performing standup comedy after retiring from the University of Minnesota. She has been featured in a variety of comedy festivals including the Women in Comedy Festival, the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival, the Twin Cities Jewish Festival, and the International Ladies Laugh Comedy Festival. She also performed in the Pride Comedy Show @ Sisyphus Brewing in Minneapolis and has been a judge for the Funniest Person with a Day Job contest at Mall of America's House of Comedy.

Jesse The Shrink

What do you get when you mix a shrink & comedian? This guy! Jesse is a bona fide licensed therapist & standup comic who gives audiences a sneak peek into the inner-workings & often hilarious experiences of a mental health professional. Whether he’s talking about navigating virtual therapy sessions during an apocalypse or just trying to figure out what to tell drunk people he does for a living, one thing’s sure: after hearing his stories you’ll never see therapy (or your therapist) the same again!

Jesse is the producer & host of Jesse The Shrink’s Midlife Crisis Show, the St Paul Comedy All-Stars Show, Friday Night Comedy at Gambit Brewing, St Paul Art Crawl Comedy Night, Therapy & Politics, & the 420 Standup Comedy Show.

He’s also co-founder of Freshly Squeezed Comedy, creator of the Funniest Person in St Paul contest, & runs a weekly comedy open mic at Gambit Brewing. Jesse won the 2024 Clear Water Comedy contest at The Plus in Eau Claire, WI, was a 2024 Funniest Person With A Day Job finalist at House of Comedy in Mall of America, & is a regular guest on the Tom Barnard Podcast.
