Recently released from jail, brooding loner Lang (Eddie Peng) returns to his hometown in Northwest China. As part of his rehabilitation order, he is required to join a dog catching gang, tasked with cleaning up the streets before the coming Bejing Olympics. As Lang patrols the city’s decaying estates on the charred fringes of the Gobi desert, he encounters a black greyhound with a price on it's head and their adventure begins.
Shot through with cool, cloudy, slow-moving images, Black Dog is a heartwarmer, framed with real grandeur and a wry sense of the absurd. Compassionate but never cloying and a total must-see, whether you're a dog lover or not!
Black Dog is in Mandarin with English subtitles. There will be a short introduction to set the scene.
