Friction Series is back! Get your friends and climbing partners together and join us for a full day of competition climbing, food, raffle prizes, games, and fun. The day will wrap with onsight finals which will bring out some of the strongest non-binary, female, & male competitors in our community!
Competitors will receive a Friction Series tote and raffle ticket! This competition is open to members and non-members alike.

Divisions & Categories
Climbers of all abilities can compete in Friction Series. This year our Recreational and Advanced divisions will be non-gendered.
The Open division will have Women, Men, and Non-Binary categories, and have a chance to qualify for an onsight finals at the end of each series.
Recreational: 5.Intro to 5.10-
Advanced: 5.10- to 5.11+ (Advanced division competitors may get moved to Open based on their scores)
Open: 5.12- to Harder

Heats
Friction Series was buzzing last year and this year we're expecting the same great turnout! To create a better competitor experience, we're offering two climbing times called "Heats". Open division competitors are highly encouraged to register for Heat 1.
Heat 1
Check-in: 9-10am
Climb time: 10am-2pm
Heat 2
Check-in: 1-2pm
Climb time: 2-6pm
Finals: 7pm
Raffle: 7:45pm
We'll have vendors, games, prizes, snacks, and beer throughout the day to keep the party going!

Format
Redpoint- In this format climbers are scored on their top 3 route scores and have a 4 hour time window to climb them. For rope routes you will score points based on how high you get on each climb via how many zones you reach.
Onsight Final- The top 5 scoring competitors from the men's, women's, and non-binary Open division will qualify for the onsight finals. In this format, climbers will have 1 route with one attempt. The climber with the highest zone will win the event.
