About this Event
Title: Poems of Prey
Date: October 6th, 2024
Workshop: 1 - 2:30 PM
Open Mic: 3 - 4PM
Have you ever been in an unhealthy relationship / forced to change to survive?
Freshkills Park is home to many birds of prey who have had to overcome changes to their environment in order to endure. Using this phenomenon as inspiration, poets Ash Frenkel, Thomas Fucaloro and Jenny Pisani created the Poems of Prey workshop to help us reflect on changes in our own lives. This workshop is for poets of all levels of experience (16+) and will guide participants through the process of writing a poem while exploring the different ways people adapt / spread their wings / outgrow their nests. The workshop will take place at Freshkills Park on October 6th from 1 - 2:30 PM and then will be followed by an open mic from 3:00 - 4:00 PM. Registration is required for the workshop. All are welcome to attend and perform at the open mic. Birds are welcome.
Location: This program will take place at North Park, located at 350 Wild Avenue in Staten Island. We will meet down by the bird tower for the program. (Directions to North Park)
