About this Event
Extra Special Monthly Bal - with "Tiennet Simonnin" - all the way from La Belle France! ?
Come and join Bal Feirste in an extended evening of dance the best of craic and no need to bring a partner!
Tiennet Simonnin is passionate about tradition, and plays in many different styles:
Traditional dance repertoire of Auvergne
Bal musette repertoire from Paris in the 30s & 40s
Irish repertoire, initally on the tin whistle, and later on the chromatic accordion, uilleann pipes, and bouzouki
He performs regularly as a solo artist and also plays with a number of highly acclaimed bands such as: TTC, Mister Klof, Traucanèu, Balam, Papillions de Nuits - check them out on YouTube!
We look forward to welcoming Tiennet to Belfast as a guest musician for our October bal, where he will play for a mix of our regular Balfolk dances as well as some dances from the Bal Musette repertoire - these will be taught at a workshop which takes place on 12 October from 330-530pm. Vanessa Franchetti will lead the workshop; book your ticket in advance (via Eventbrite) for a discounted price.

Logistics: please note that An Droichead's pedestrian gate will not be open. As you enter Cooke Street, the carpark for An Droichead is the first set of open gates on the left. Entry to the building is via the carpark; from there, walk past the mobile classroom on your right, and turn right. The main red brick building will be on your left, walk straight ahead to the metal gate, and take a left.
Our events take place on the upper floor of the main red-bricked building.
Many native French speakers come to our events - so there's an opportunity to speak, si vous voulez!
A BYO event!
