Summer in le Sud: Lucy "Clare" Spooner's new work
paints between New York and the south of France. This summer, during an artist residency near Aix-en-Provence, she worked in oil and watercolor outdoors, moving from fields to the coastline.
Summer in le Sud (le Sud = the south of France) gathers those days into a concise series: direct, fresh, and made on site. Trained at UVA, the Marchutz School (Aix), the New York Studio School, and the Art Students League, Clare balances rigor with ease. At the event, her work will be displayed throughout the space like postcards from a season, meant to be seen up close.

A great place for a good glass
takes its name from French slang for "tip it back"—and that's the vibe. Curated by French-born winemaker Jordan Veran, the rotating list features low-intervention, natural wines, many of which are sourced through his longtime relationships with growers, importers, and friends. Bascule was designed for conversation and discovery, the perfect backdrop for our French, Art & Wine Soirée, where each pour pairs with a painting and a conversation.

A moment to meet in real life
I started to make learning French easy, friendly, and enjoyable. This soirée is precisely the kind of moment I love: coming together in person, sharing a drink, and creating a warm, relaxed environment where you can practice your French while connecting over art and conversation. All levels are welcome; whether you come for the art, to learn a few new words in French, or to meet fellow francophones and francophiles, you are invited. I'm genuinely excited for this event! À très vite :)
