About this Event

PLEASE BE AT LYNWOOD YOUTH HUB BY 10.30AM SHARP TO CATCH THE BUS TO FREMANTLE Pr*son

Step inside and explore Fremantle Pr*son from its convict origins in the 1850’s until its closure as a maximum-security gaol in 1991.

Take a visual journey back in time in the Main Cell Block where you can view life as it was for both convicts and prisoners. What type of cell would you prefer to be in?

Discover how time was passed in the yards, while marvelling at original prisoner works of art.

Pray for redemption in the Anglican Chapel and laugh as our entertaining guides show you the lighter side of Pr*son humour.

From shackles and isolation, to walls, gates, gun towers and razor wire, Fremantle Pr*son was designed and built as a place of incarceration. Join our experienced guides to see where many daring and dangerous escapes were attempted by convicts and prisoners alike. Become acquainted with bushrangers and escape artists, such as Moondyne Joe, and marvel at his escape proof cell

Register your interest. This event is open for young people aged 11-17 yrs, youth who do not meet the required age will have their ticket refunded.

Duty of Care: The City of Canning is committed to providing safe and supported environments where young people can feel welcome and thrive. Our qualified youth team will do all they can to ensure young people are safe, supported and supervised during their time on our programs and in our centres. A large part of our Youth Service is delivering drop-in from youth centres and outreach activities at various locations; meaning young people can come and go as they please during opening times. Please note: if a young person chooses to leave in the middle of a program or centre open hours, they have the right to do so. City of Canning does not take responsibility for young people who leave the centre or are not in the premises. City of Canning youth staff do not have the authority to keep young people at our premises at the request of parents.
